LED Technology is beneficial for hot and cold climes. Hot climates benefit from a reduced heat output: LED spot lights do not make use of filaments that are heated up during the working process to produce light. This means that heat dissipation in LED spot lights is comparatively far less. The new generation LEDs generate 3 to 5 times more light that previous LED technology and have energy savings of up to 90% when compared to conventional lighting technology. LEDs reach full brightness almost instantly unlike compact fluorescents that can take more than a minute to achieve their maximum output.

Existing lighting technologies are omni-directional and require external, inefficient reflectors to focus the light they emit. LED lighting is by its nature a directional light source, so that light is used efficiently and distributed to exactly where it is needed.  LEDs draw a hugely reduced electrical current which results in wiring and electrical fittings suffering less from deterioration and therefore lasting longer.

With the extended life span of LED lamps there are significant savings to be made with reduced maintenance and lamp replacement costs. LEDs expect a life cycle of 50,000 hours with minimal degradation.  This equates to 5.7 years if left on continuously or just over 17 years if switched on for 8 hours a day.  The life cycle will therefore decrease maintenance costs significantly. This is compared to only 2,000 running hours of a halogen.
