11kW Solar PV Installation – Community Project

This 11kW solar PV installation was fully funded through The Carbon Fund, delivered in partnership with British Airways and Pure Leapfrog, as part of a programme designed to support community-based renewable energy projects.
The solar array now provides clean, renewable electricity to power the site, significantly reducing energy costs and enabling the organisation to reinvest savings back into its core activities. In particular, the reduced running costs allow greater funding to be directed towards the development of the museum and its educational programmes, with a strong focus on supporting and inspiring children.
The project demonstrates how well-designed solar PV systems can deliver tangible financial and environmental benefits, while also supporting wider social and educational outcomes within the community.

This project is another example of how Greenio has successfully secured grant funding to support community-led renewable energy schemes. Funding was provided through The Carbon Fund, delivered in partnership with British Airways and Pure Leapfrog, helping to make the project financially viable from the outset.
Thistles had already raised funds to construct a new, purpose-built facility but were keen to explore ways to reduce long-term energy costs and improve the building’s sustainability. After engaging with Greenio, we designed and delivered a fully managed, turnkey renewable energy solution, tailored specifically to their operational needs and future goals.
By integrating renewable technologies into the new building, the project now benefits from reduced energy bills and improved efficiency, allowing more resources to be directed back into core activities. This was a particularly rewarding project for Greenio, demonstrating how the right combination of grant funding, technical expertise and end-to-end delivery can create lasting financial and environmental benefits for community organisations.

Greenio are always available on the phone if I need to talk through settings, every time I have rung, I am put through to a qualified member of staff. The one time I had to call them, they sent out an engineer out the same day to correct the fault.

North Kesteven Academy
1600 LED Lights

Greenio also worked with North Kesteven Academy over the summer holidays, changing 1,600 LED lights which will save approximately £270,000 over the next 15 years.
Paul Allison, head of finance at North Kesteven Academy, said: “Our students and 150 members of staff will return to the school in September to a brighter and better working environment.
“We enjoy some outstanding facilities at North Kesteven Academy and are proud of our breadth of curriculum and the opportunities presented to our students, especially in the performing arts. The money we will save from this project can be ploughed back into building on this.
