New Opportunities for Local & Community Energy
The way local renewable energy projects are funded and delivered in the UK is changing.
The Great British Energy Local Power Plan is backed by up to £1 billion of funding to help expand local and community-owned clean energy across the UK.
The programme aims to support at least 1,000 local and community energy projects by 2030, with support including funding, finance, project development and new ownership models.
Potential opportunities include renewable energy projects involving community organisations, local authorities, public-sector organisations and community energy groups.
This could open new opportunities for projects involving solar PV, battery storage and other renewable technologies.
Based in the East Midlands?
This is particularly relevant locally, with the East Midlands Combined County Authority working in partnership with Great British Energy as part of the Local Power Plan.
