High-Capacity Solar & Battery Storage – Newark
The Project
The completed home-energy system combines 19 solar panels with an 8 kW hybrid inverter and approximately 20 kWh of battery storage. The design brings solar generation, energy storage and intelligent monitoring together to give the household greater control over when renewable electricity is generated, stored and used.
Greenio designed and installed a high-capacity residential solar PV and battery storage system for a home in Newark, Nottinghamshire. The property offered several roof areas with different orientations, creating an opportunity to generate renewable electricity across the building rather than relying on a single elevation.

The Customer
Greenio modelled the main roof, rear roof and garage as part of one overall solar PV design. This approach allowed generation from different orientations to contribute to the system as a whole, while the large battery capacity provided the flexibility to store surplus renewable electricity rather than exporting it immediately.
The homeowners wanted a substantial renewable energy system capable of making good use of the property’s different roof areas while providing enough battery capacity to retain electricity for use later in the day.
The Customer Said...
Our roof isn’t straightforward, so I expected there would have to be compromises. Instead, Greenio found a way to use the different sections effectively. We’ve ended up with a much bigger and more capable home-energy system than I originally thought possible.

Where Are They Now
The original energy modelling anticipated annual household electricity consumption of approximately 5,730 kWh. Based on the design assumptions, around 78% of that annual requirement could potentially be supplied either directly from solar generation or through energy stored in the battery system.
The installation provides significantly greater control over household energy use and is a strong example of modern residential solar moving beyond rooftop panels alone towards an integrated home-energy system combining solar PV, battery storage and intelligent energy management.
