The Bungalow
The Project
The 9.18 kWp installation comprises 18 AIKO Neostar 2S+ 510W solar panels, a SolarEdge 8 kW HomeHub inverter, a 10 kWh SolarEdge Home Battery and individual panel optimisers. A MyEnergi Eddi immersion controller was also incorporated so surplus renewable electricity can be diverted productively into hot water.
Greenio designed and installed an integrated residential solar PV and battery storage system at a home in Lincolnshire. The system uses roof space across the property to provide substantial renewable electricity generation while battery storage allows surplus solar energy to be retained for use later in the day.

The Customer
Greenio designed the system around the available roof areas and the household’s anticipated electricity consumption. SolarEdge optimisation supports performance across the array, while the battery and immersion controller provide additional ways to retain and use renewable electricity within the home rather than simply exporting surplus generation.
The homeowner wanted more than a conventional solar panel installation. The objective was to reduce dependence on grid electricity by combining strong daytime solar generation with battery storage and intelligent energy management.
The Customer Said...
The biggest thing for us was making the solar work beyond the middle of the day. Storing the excess and using some of it for hot water means we get far more benefit from what the panels produce, and the results have been better than we expected/.

Where Are They Now
The original design estimated approximately 7,693 kWh of annual solar generation, an annual carbon reduction of around 1,593 kg CO2 and a first-year financial benefit of approximately £2,077. The projected payback period was around eight years.
Real-world performance is now reported to be significantly ahead of that original payback expectation. The project demonstrates how residential solar PV, battery storage and smart energy controls can work together to make renewable electricity more useful throughout the day and increase the overall value delivered by the system.
